The current Picard 2.3.0b1 is incompatible with macOS 10.12 and fails to launch:

      [53512] Error loading Python lib ‘/Volumes/MusicBrainz Picard 2.3.0b1/MusicBrainz Picard.app/Contents/MacOS/Python’: dlopen: dlopen(/Volumes/MusicBrainz Picard 2.3.0b1/MusicBrainz Picard.app/Contents/MacOS/Python, 10): Symbol not found: _futimens

I reportedly runs on macOS 10.13 and later.

[PICARD-1733] App does not start on macOS 10.12

          Philipp Wolfer added a comment - https://github.com/metabrainz/picard/pull/1459

The issue seems to be the bundled python binaries. We could try to use either Python 3.6 from Gitlab CI or try to install the official binaries from python.org. The latter actually should still work, installing those binaries is still be done in macos-setup.sh if PYTHON_VERSION is configured.
