I have 2 tracks from the same album (release), Track ID's 1ed5384e-c032-3ddf-8be6-b76b7223f534
and ec7c92bd-9f7a-3f99-9c4d-f1eb2cb08231. The first one is an m4a file and the second one is an mp3 file.

Picard looks up the metadata OK and looks like it's written it, but querying the files through other tools (eg ffprobe or mp3tag), it appears that the mp3 file has the Album Type set to album; compilation (this is correct) but the m4a file just has album:
