With PICARD-1357 there is now the option to choose dark or light UI explicitly in Picard's options. However, when using the official Picard app package the default setting does not auto-detect the system's default configured in macOS preferences.

Note that this is a packaging issue. Detection of the dark mode works when running Picard from source.
