Doubtful relevance, but (currently); MS Windows v10
Meta; I did try searching for similar tickets, but found none which seemed relevant.
Context: Within Picard, attempting to match which release of Life for Rent from the DiscID.
The DiscID returned several matches. Even after comparing barcode/calagueID, and nation of release, it was still ambiguous/unclear. There were still 2 or 3 possibilities. The Disambiguation field was either blank/null/empty, else wasn't helpful (which I've since edited to partially-mitigate/workaround this problem).
Notably, the UI didn't show me the medium format of/for each matching release. This becomes relevant later/below.
Later, after some guess-work/trial-and-error, I noticed on the MusicBrainz website that one of the releases was marked as being “Copy Control CD”, while the others were typically (non-copy-obfuscated-)“CD”, or a non-CDDA format entirely. The release I have is the copy-obfuscation variety (as its own packaging, and the medium itself, make clear).
Had Picard revealed the medium format (viz. in separate a column) in the UI dialogue for selecting releases from matching DiscIDs, then selecting the correct match/release would've been very easy & quick; obvious & trivial even.
Thus, my RFE is for such information to be made available to the user.
However, I can imagine why it's hidden by default, since the typical scenario will be matching CDs (as opposed to non-CD formats). Perhaps this is an edge-case to be considered.
I suggest making the display of medium formats be conditional (or, at least, optional/user-configurable). If all matches are of format “CD”, then format remains a moot datum. However, if any matches are something other than m/^CD$/, then Picard should show the medium format for each matching release.
