Environment:enhanced_titles plugin
I like the ideas of the enhanced_titles plugin. I want to sort my English-language releases according to titles which moving short initial words like "The" and "A" to the end.
However, I also want my sort names to be language driven. I have a priority list of languages (actually, locales) which I prefer. I would like the plugin to deliver the alias has the locale which is highest on my list of priorities. Currently, it looks like the plugin takes the first plausible alias it finds.
I would like the plugin to search the aliases of the Release first, and if it searches the Release Group also, to merge the aliases of the Release Group intelligently into the aliases of the Release. Currently, it looks like the plugin searches only the aliases of the Release Group.
I would like the plugin to be selective about which aliases it chooses. In addition to being language-driven, I would like it to give priority to Aliases which are marked as Alias Type of Release Name, and Preferred for their locale.
I could write the code for this and submit it as a Pull Request. But, are changes of this magnitude within scope for an enhancement of the enhanced_titles plugin? Or, should I instead make my own plugin, using some of the enhanced_titles code as inspiration? Either is fine by me.
Also, note that ticket STYLE-2760 Sort name style for Release/ReleaseGroup is theĀ corresponding proposal to change the Style Guidelines corresponding to this software functionality change.
ThisĀ ticket is a companion to Github `picard-plugins` issue #405, with the same content. I'm not sure whether people prefer to track enhancement requests on this platform or on Github.
