from http://bugs.musicbrainz.org/ticket/3976
Hi development team,
I assume that iTunes is by far the most popular program to organize music collections. So it should be worth the effort to explicitly support it (even by adding workarounds for iTunes flaws).
The problem with iTunes is that it maintains its own database and doesn't update it automatically when ID3 tags are changed. There isn't even an option to re-import tags from files. And the whole file renaming feature in Picard is entirely useless for existing iTunes collections since iTunes wouldn't find the renamed files anymore.
Therefore, I'm suggesting to '''add an option to Picard to update the iTunes database'''.
I don't know how the database manipulations are done but it is possible. An example for a program that does this is iArt (http://www.ipodsoft.com/site/pmwiki.php?n=IArt.HomePage).
Thx, MD
