I use picard to tag files that physically reside on another computer and are mounted for example using sshfs.
While reading and writing files in this setup is of course somewhat slow, picard becomes unresponsive when saving files, often more than 30 seconds.
Hence I suggest that saving a file should be done in a separate thread, maybe depending on a configuration option. (As far as I looked through the configuration, there is no such option...)
