Opus files can come in either *.opus or *.ogg naming variants, but do not describe unique file formats. *.opus files are merely Ogg containers like Vorbis files would be.
For a few compatibility reasons with dumb music players, it's sometimes desirable to use *.ogg for tagging support, or playing back the files at all. However, when Picard encounters files named as such, it produces on error on the files saying "no appropriate stream found" – these same files work properly if renamed to *.opus.
