Some countries, like "Denmark" and "China", are ranked lower in the options shown in the Area autoselects than their city namesakes. I'm guessing that it is far more common to need to use a given country than some specific city, which may also lead to the wrong area (city instead of country) being chosen if editing a tad too quickly.
