I haven't found a ticket for this bug so I apologize if it already exists.

I found this bug while creating https://musicbrainz.org/release/6dd5c758-e441-4330-879b-a09f134df1e9 and re-using the recordings from single releases. The bug happens if you try to add a track where the artist is using a different artist credit than its entity name and you're re-using the previous recording. Let me explain by showing you an example that I used for the bug reproduction and screenshots as well.

Let's say we'd like to create the following release once more in mb: https://musicbrainz.org/release/78085971-fea5-4c23-8107-40cc80a2176a . It doesn't matter if it will be created from scratch or inside the existing release group as long as the existing release is not selected in the "Release Duplicates" tab. After going to the Recordings tab and re-using the existing recording, it will show the featuring artist's entity name "Panther Matumona" rather than the artist credit "Panther" on the left, in the right list of recordings and even in the search field (see the first screenshot) despite the recording being credited to the artist credit "Panther". It will also present you the checkmark to update the artist credit on the recording but clicking it has no effect. If you try to re-use the existing release as a duplicate or just edit the release instead of adding a new one, everything will be displayed just fine (see the second screenshot).

I hope I provided enough information for you to figure out what's wrong. Thanks for the fix!
