I'd say this falls under the same problems as "soundtrack" or "video game music"

perhaps "score" alone could exist, but in general music for games, musicals, films all could have any number of genres, symphonic, rock, jazz, hip-hop, and often will incorporate different styles depending.

Take for example, "Monsters Inc.", the score here is definitely "swing/big-band" inspired.

Is it a valid genre though? I'm not too sure. What are the unifying ideas behind the "film score" genre, other than "music written for a film"? Not even Wikipedia, where editors are pretty happy to call everything a genre, has the word genre in the definition part of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_score
