There was pretty widespread support that re-recorded albums should be separated:
https://community.metabrainz.org/t/re-recorded-albums-always-new-release-group/550135/9
I think it's a bit overdue for that relationship type to exist, as well as the updating of https://musicbrainz.org/doc/Style/Release_Group
The guidelines/definition of the new relationship can just say that the vast majority of the recordings must be fully re-recorded for the separate release groups and relationship to apply. (This covers the edge case where a new subtrack is mixed with the older subtracks because somebody wants a different guitarist to get the credit.)
Examples:
1. Red (Taylor's version) is a re-recorded version of Red.
2. ソルファ (2016) is a re-recorded version of ソルファ.
