      Greetings.

My request is partially based on this thread. It didnt raise much editors interest, so i am hoping to convey my thoughts directly to the developers.

There was similar thread in the past:

Proposal: add a new artist type "production music library". Or just "library". Or...

      Some thoughts about this:

      1. For now MB style guide doesnt cover this aspect, but due to the fact that there are a TONS of such music, i think its justified to cover it.

      2. From what i understand there is no industry standard for this term (library) and different companies use this term differently. As shown on examples below it could be "library", "label" or "catalogue". But what is clear - every such "library" has individual name, suffix (abbreviation) based on its name and every album in that library has catalogue number with this suffix.

This companies use the term "label":
      https://harmony-music.sourceaudio.com/labels
      https://www.extrememusic.com/discover/labels
      https://search.westonemusic.com/labels
      https://www.universalproductionmusic.com/en-row/discover/labels

This one use the term "library":
      https://www.apmmusic.com/libraries

This one use the term "catalogue":
      https://milesofmusik.com/music_catalog/

And these ones use mixed terms:
      https://www.musou.gr/music/browse
      https://milesofmusik.com/music_catalog/
      https://search.musicforproductions.com/catalogs

Here is a wiki article about this:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Production_music
      Non-wiki article:

      3. Speaking about digital stores there is no standard either. Some labels/libraries are artists there, while others published under individual/various artists.

      Some examples:
      https://harmony-music.sourceaudio.com/labels
Lovely Music Library and Library of the Human Soul are separate artists, while "Gothic Storm" combines albums from Gothic Storm, Gothic Hybrid and Gothic Storm's Toolworks.

Dos Brains combines albums from End of Silence, Rogue Souls, Silver Screen and Third Rail.

      https://milesofmusik.com/music_catalog/library-1465673/
      https://milesofmusik.com/music_catalog/library-1465672/

APM music: Cezame, Endgame, KPM, Infinity Scores, Siren Cues published under individual/various artists, while Epic Score, Wukong, InsideTracks and LiquidCinema published as single artists.
      https://www.apmmusic.com/libraries

Extreme Music: Two Steps from Hell is the separate artist, while others like Earth Tones, Space Tones, 13 Brotherhood, etc. published under individual/various artists.

My personal assumption, that (in most cases) if company has only one library and its name matches the label name, then it "exists" as artist in digial store.

      4. If we set album artist to various/individual artists and label doesnt match the library name, then turns out that original library name is not mentioned at all. As minimum that excludes album from such search. Also as i understand digital stores dont always mention label name too - they could mean publisher, but not the original production.

      5. Cover art in most cases displays library name, so this probably should be taken into account too.

      6. There will be no need to unnessesary assign albums to "various artists" category, while they could be assigned to "native" library name, which (at least for me) definetely works as "album artist".

Something like this... Clarity in the matter should (as minimum) stop people from reassigning artists from library name to various/individuals. For example in history of this label on MB there are a lot of cases where album artists changed there and back again and even at the moment there is no standard here:
