there's two usecases to likely be added:
- the user page: created by a person, which lists all their pronouns (as well as preferred names and other similar stuff). some examples:
- Fef has a page at https://en.pronouns.page/@flixanoa
- Burgivore has a page at https://en.pronouns.page/@burgivore
- pronoun URLs: links to a specific pronoun set that an artist uses
- can either be an individual set of pronouns, like https://en.pronouns.page/she, interchangeable forms like https://en.pronouns.page/he&they, or custom like https://en.pronouns.page/fox/fox/fox's/fox's/foxself (which lists out up to five forms a pronoun typically takes)
this link could be quite beneficial to regular users and data consumers, as it helps people write about a particular artist and since pronouns.page has an API, even lets data consumers know how to refer to an artist too
the benefit of having this over an artist attribute is that the user pages are created and can be edited by the artists themselves (tho this could also be a negative, if an artist forgets they have the page, lol). that's not to say I'm personally against an attribute tho, and it might be good to support both user pages and attributes (once we have attributes for artists)
a few notes on URL formatting (mostly for the user-created pages)
- the user (@) pronouns pages have two main forms, either with an @ or /u/, for example https://en.pronouns.page/@flixanoa or https://en.pronouns.page/u/flixanoa should work the same, and we could probably standardize to one or the other
- there are different language versions of the sites, and one user can have a page on several of the language subdomains (see https://pronouns.page/ for a list of languages). a URL without the language subdomain links to each individual language the user has a page for: https://pronouns.page/@flixanoa. I don't think we should remove the subdomain when cleaning links
- some links might also include pronouns in the URL itself (i.e. https://en.pronouns.page/@flixanoa#he/him). these can likely be removed with no data loss, but I'm not 100% certain on that. after some brief testing, it seems to have no effect on the page loaded
- on the pronoun URLs, they can also contain a ":", such as https://en.pronouns.page/any:normative or custom no pronouns pages like https://en.pronouns.page/:Andrea
