The Title style guideline gives examples of how slashes are used when a title includes two separate songs or two artists. That's the only style guideline examples we have that include a slash, so some editors are misinterpreting that to mean every slash in a title should be surrounded by spaces. We know from releases like White Light/White Heat that this isn't the case: a single title that includes a slash should appear as on the release.
