In response to reo more than anyone, I was starting on a proposal but the more I read about this the more I have my doubts that we can accurately track and publish such information and that the only people who would ever care about this information already have suitable tools run by organizations who's are paid to keep that information accurate.

I know I don't have any heavy influcence of any of this, but I would like to say that if the current editor community generally seem to trend towards not bothering with capturing this information that we should mark this as "Won't do" request and point any future queries about it to that thread.

If you want this, please give me a proper description, link phrases and ideally guidelines on its use, because all these legal bits are entirely alien to me.

Also, from your comment it kinda sounds like you expect this to be a label-label relationship (since you are comparing it with "Parent of") while the original request seems to be for a label-work relationship. Or is the suggestion we should have both? In which case, I'd need the same thing for both types.

Bumping this again, I've been doing some publisher work... would be a useful relationship to have as "Parent of/Subsidary of" isn't really factually accurate.

That's actually a decent question. There ought to be a way to tie an administrator to a publisher, but I don't know if that'd be possible with our current schema.

Usually liner notes would read "ABC Publishing Inc. (adm. XYZ Records Inc.)". When there are multiple publishers for a work, how can we associate ABC with XYZ for this particular work?
