https://musicbrainz.org/doc/Style/Titles covers series where the series has a common title + part/volume (such as "Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts I–V") but does not cover situations like https://musicbrainz.org/edit/46298860 where the Series is not really part of the main title, but the main title definitely needs disambiguation by indicating that it is part of the series.
I propose that the style guidelines are enhanced as follows:
Series part / volume numbering
When a release or track is a numbered part of a series, separate the volume or part name from the title with a comma. If the title already ends with an alternative punctuation mark, such as a question mark or an exclamation point
, use that mark instead of the comma.
Disambiguation using Series
When a release or track is part of a series, but the series name is not part of the title, then the Series should precede the title separated with a colon. If the Series already ends with an alternative punctuation mark, such as a question mark or an exclamation point
, use that mark instead of the colon.
