I made LB-1215 for the automatic cover generation, but that might be something more like generating a cover using colors from the cover art with the playlist title overlaid is prolly the basic idea (and ListenBrainz has done a lot with cover art colors, see HueSound)

the primary idea behind this ticket was to allow users to upload (previously discussed and shot down) or create playlist covers to add to their playlists, probably something like Playlist Cover Maker by Spotlistr or the Soundplate Cover Generator. I think having a library of images we can use might be an option to consider, but we could do plenty with simpler non-image designs (like most of the templates on the current Art Creator on ListenBrainz)

UltimateRiff "automatically generate a cover using the playlist name" Does that mean that covers will be generated using AI? I was thinking mbye to do basic covers as a default featuring 4 covers from songs in a playlist just like in Spotify?

I do think having a wide array of images might be a good alternative to user uploads, maybe pulled from Wikimedia Commons or some other licensable source? if done right, we could even have built-in image attribution...

We discussed it briefly and want to support playlist covers but users won't be able to upload arbitrary images. LB will soon have a cover art maker and users will be able to use it create/select playlist covers.
