When you batch-create new works in the beta relationship editor, you can copy the links to the new works and paste them in the target entity field of a dialog, which should theoretically allow you to relate two new works together.

Unfortunately, doing this (trying to link one new work to another new work) gives a bogus error message in the dialog: "Entities in a relationship cannot be the same."
