We have a big problem with beginner editors: because so many edits beginner users would do are now autoedits, they can add tons of stuff without ever getting out of the beginner status (which blocks their voting, or will at least once MBS-13100 is implemented). Also, those autoedits are likely to not get many eyes on them, since they never get into the voting queue.
A possible way to get the editors to stop being beginners sooner, and make the two weeks the main block as it was always meant to be (with the 10 edits being just a basic "was the editor active at all" check), is to make all edits by beginners votable. This will ensure that editors that are active will almost certainly get their 10 edits by the end of their second week, and will put their edits (which might need eyes on them) in front of more voters.
