Here is the current redundancy:

• Instrument names are localized (in server code) by translators.
• Instrument also have aliases maintained (in database) by instrument editor.

As this redundancy cannot really be avoided, it should at least be checked for consistency. It could be implemented in a one-off script which would check that every instrument localized name is an alias for the same instrument and locale in the database, if not the primary alias. Otherwise, the list of inconsistencies should be looked after by the developer and forwarded to instrument editor and translators as needed.
