I'm following INSTALL.md to install the MusicBrainz Server. In section "Building static web resources", we run:
./script/compile_resources.sh
This fails with an error about missing .po files. The error is addressed in that same section,
by pointing to the "Translations" section of the document. The problem is that when the documentation reads:
If you encounter an error running the command above, follow this section Translations [...]
... it implies that it's possible to not encounter this error, but is it? Similarly ambiguous to the new user, the "Translations" section reads:
If you intend to run a server with translations [...]
...which implies that there is a way to run the server without translations, but there is no indication how to do that. If that is possible, it's also an additional way to work around the error in the "Building static web resources" section.
I'm happy to send a pull request, if someone will answer whether:
- it is possible to not have that error when installing the server for the first time, and
- it is possible to run the server without translations and if so, how.
Thanks!
