let me show it on an example. someone submitted a medium without track durations. after some time, the editor added the track durations in tracklisting, but not on recordings. so i'm editing the album, switching to the "Tracklist" tab, don't want to edit anything here, so proceeding to "Recordings" tab. the release is collapsed (it's useful when editing releases with many mediums), so i need to expand the release. the individual checkboxes "Also update the recording with track changes" are not present. when pressing "Copy all track changes to associated recordings." on the bottom and proceeding to "Edit Note" tab, there is nothing edited. i know it's kinda logical, because i didn't make any track changes, but it also doesn't make sense if i edit only some stuff and many other stuff is also edited (see MBS-5130). now, when i go back to "Recordings" tab, the individual checkboxes are here! wohoo! when i untick and tick again the "Copy all track changes to associated recordings." on the bottom, all the recording checkboxes are checked (that's what i wanted earlier, but the checkboxes weren't here the first time i visited the "Recordings" tab). when i click on "Edit Note" tab again, the missing durations are transferred from tracklist to recordings.
so, in conclusion:
- when performing my edit, i need to hit tracklist tab, then recordings tab, edit note tab, then again recordings tab, make my changes and edit note tab to finish edit. i should see the checkboxes the first time i'm in the Recordings tab, even though i didn't make any changes to the tracklisting.
- i think there should be some other checkboxes or something similar. or changed the wording of the checkboxes. instead of "copy track changes to associated recordings" it should be "copy tracks to associated recordings" or something similar, because this is what the function does.
- when searching for similar tickets, i run into
MBS-5130, so i think the best would be if there were some other options (checkboxes, or whatnot). "copy tracks to associated recordings" (present function), maybe also "copy the track changes user made in his edit", like theMBS-5130suggests. but i leave this paragraph for theMBS-5130ticket, i just though it's worth mentioning here.
so, to summarize only my ticket and my request. when not doing any track changes and proceeding to Recordings tab, it's ok if all mediums are collapsed, but the individual checkboxes should be here after expanding the medium. and the wording should be changed from "copy track changes" to "copy tracklisting" or something with more sense.
