I think that the overview page of artists are sadly lacking in critical details about what that artist does. What I think could help remedy this is an automated analysis of an artist based on artist type and artist relationships. A basic analysis could just count the number of each relationship type to classify the artist (number of instrument appearances to, compositions, etc) to give basic classification to an artist. We could run other analyses such as are they a producer or self-producer (artist has a producer relationship with a recording in which they appear as an artist or release with the same).
Examples:
- 植松伸夫 would show that he is a composer, producer and arranger.
- Jillain Aversa would show that she is a vocalist (lead & soprano), lyricist and composer.
For now this should mainly be done for people, unless we think of good ways to characterize groups, orchestras, choirs, characters and other.
