Right now edit emails are spammy and hostile;
For example, if an user changes an artist name and 60 artist credits, and some other user votes "no" on all these edits, one'll receive 60 separate "no votes" emails + any edit notes the voting editor made.
This is not ideal!
- One solution would be to run Modbot every 15 mins or so, and clump all those notifications together instead of sending an email straight away
- "No vote" text in the emails should be improved to be a bit less "negative"/"scary", and offer ways to respond to them, explain why these emails are coming in the first place, perhaps also links to vote/edit documentation.
- To limit confusion, we should make sure "no vote" votes did indeed get through before alerting the user.
Preference control of notifications:
- More granular control over what and how often (batched or not) emails or on-site notifications get sent would be useful.
- Some actions should always result in mail: "no votes" for example. This to ensure that the most important "action required" situations are not missed.
- If a user hasn't checked their notifications for a long while, maybe send them a summarized email anyway.
