At the moment, the Genres tagging has an option to fallback to artist genres if none are found for the release or release group. However it is not possible to disable falling back to the release group.
If an album has a mix of different genres, e.g. a soundtrack, you end up with tracks being mis-tagged because the track itself has no genre specified, or no genre matching the usage threshold (90% default).
Users might prefer no tags over erroneous tags. Especially users who don't tag albums, e.g. users of "Load as non-album track".
Please either add a checkbox for "Fall back on release group's genres if no genres are found for the release" (probably checked by default for compatibility) or a "Don't use release group genres" checkbox.
Thanks.
