It would be nice if Picard could have some filters that allow the user to remove certain subsets of albums (or similar) from the right pane of the its UI.

The first two filters that I think you should implement is for albums marked with gold and silver and without the "star". I am slowly updating my whole music collection with data from MB and everytime I add my whole collection I first have to remove hundreds of albums that I already have processed.
