I've always found it a bit odd how search works on MusicBrainz, where you've got to specify an entity type in order to search. this seems quite atypical, and may make searches confusing for newcomers. many similar projects allow searching like this, including Bandcamp, Discogs, RateYourMusic, and even BookBrainz.
