This is a feature request.

Searching for artists or records is a bit cumbersome because you have to manually specify what you're looking for. A unified search which returned relevant results from all types and then offered the option to only show results of a certain kind would be much appreciated.

Of course, this might be expensive unless you have a fulltext index that stretches across all database tables, so that you don't have to resort to doing all of the searches and putting it together into a single page...
