Discussion on IRC [1] has brought up the following idea to help improve the situation of the voting drought:
Create a small display on any entity page which would allow a user to quickly/easily vote on edits relevant to that entity.
This would be something similar to ocharles' scheduling game [2], but it would be small and appear either as a javascript popup, or iframe, or the like. One possibility is to indicate pending edits first [3,4] before displaying the actual voting interface. It should display edits for entities in the following priority:
Release/RG:
- Direct release/RG edits
- Recordings on current release
- Direct edits to current release's artist
- Direct edits to artist appearing on the release (for various artists tracks)
Artist:
- Direct artist edits
- Artist's release/RG edits
- Artist's recordings
Work:
- Direct work edits
- Edits to related entities
- Direct edits to artists of artist credits on related entities (e.g. a rename of an artist on an AC for a recording of a work)
"Skip" / abstain should be a big easy-to-hit button in order to reduce unconsidered voting. Once the user has voted or skipped all edits related to the current entity, it should display a big thank you, and go away.
